According to Denver Municipal Code Section 8-16, dogs must be leashed and under their owner’s or keeper’s physical control in any public space – including parks, tree lawns, sidewalks, streets, and medians – EXCEPT FOR the city’s Dog Parks. One of the City of Denver’s Dog Parks is in Lowry, in the open space off Yosemite Way.
To report a dog off leash, call 311 or Denver Animal Protection Officer Dispatch at (720) 913-2080.
The LCMA has requested additional Denver Animal Protection patrols in Lowry, and specifically in Tailwind Park. Officers patrol seven days a week.
The City of Denver’s Animal Protection Officers do issue citations with fines for dogs off leash:
1st violation: $80
2nd violation: $150
3rd violation: $300
They also issue citations for not picking up after your pet:
1st violation: $150
2nd violation: $250
3rd violation: $500
