Montclair Recreation Center is the modern use of the historic Lowry Base Arts and Crafts Center.
Originally a low, one story blond brick building when it opened in 1971, building No. 629 was the arts and crafts hobby center for the base. After the base closed, Denver Parks and Recreation did a land swap with the developer, added several acres for an outdoor park and created a modern recreation center with an indoor pool, weight, exercise and hobby rooms as well as a full sized gymnasium. The renovation added height for the pool as well as the gym areas and a completely modern facility was created.
