Columns of Light are located in the Aurora Community College area off of 9075 E.Lowry Blvd. (located just north of the Film School). Created by Robert Tully the 12 stone columns connect two buildings, creating a visual link to the campus and making the walk between buildings more interesting. It also functions as a relaxed, shaded seating area. The design repeats and emphasizes the horizontal roofs of the former Air Force buildings. Blond brick and aluminum were used in order to match the architecture, while the buff sandstone used is similar to the limestone on some other buildings at Lowry. The stark simplicity of the columns creates an interesting walkway. Covering over 200 square feet, the artwork was installed in 2003 as part of the Art in Public Spaces program.
