The Museum is the modern day use of historic Hanger 1 Building #401.
Hangar No. 1 opened in 1940 and housed planes for repair, training and even sleeping soldiers before the before the giant “Brick Barracks” opened. In 1994 it became the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum. In addition to its entry piece, a B-52, it showcases many more military planes inside and military and Lowry history. It also has a room honoring President Dwight Eisenhower and his summer white house located at Lowry from 1953-1955.
