This summer, the LCMA is trying something new: a Food Truck Tuesday series and a Treat Truck Thursday series. While we all miss and look forward to the return of the concerts and movies in the park, the LCMA Board of Directors has chosen to err on the side of extreme caution and not hold any large events until the youngest age group of children can be vaccinated. The trucks will attract much smaller numbers of people than the movie nights, allowing for more safe space between groups of people. The truck series will also rotate their locations around neighborhood parks, bringing super easy access to each of the four geographic areas of Lowry.
On June 15, Cupbop came to Tailwind Park and sold out quickly! Lots of folks lined up for Korean BBQ in a cup and left with happy bellies.
The second Food Truck Tuesday is June 29. Mac N’ Noodles will be at Bayaud Park serving up delicious bowls of comfort food. Check out their menu here. You can even get cheesy loaded tater tots! Find them on the north side of the Bayaud playground, near the intersection of Bayaud and Rosemary.
Rolling into July, find Food Truck Tuesday at Sunset Park on the 13th. Scratch your bbq itch with the Colorado Pig Rig. Get a sandwich or a meat plate (they even have tofu patties) and all the sides from this locally-owned truck. Their menu is here; come hungry!
Our final Food Truck Tuesday for the summer is July 27; you’ll want to walk on over to Mustang Park (9th Ave between Spruce St and Spruce Ct) to get your dinner from The Walking Taco. Get a Walking Taco, Taco Salad, or the very intriguing Tot-chos. Vegan options are available, too, as well as sides.
The other exciting series is Treat Truck Thursday. The LCMA is sponsoring cold dessert trucks to help beat the summer heat! Desserts are free while supplies last–but trucks will have the option of purchasing a treat after that.
Em’s Ice Cream was at Sunset Park on June 24 providing creamy ice cream scoops and fruit popsicles. What a way to beat the heat!
On July 22, head to Tailwind Park to get some “nice cream” from Ba-NOM-a-NOM. They take pure fruit and turn it into a soft-serve style treat, with no dairy, gluten, eggs, or added sugars. You can get toppings too! Their menu changes daily based on fruit availability but you can check out their site here.
In August, cruise on over to Mustang Park on the 5th for some smooth sweet ice cream from High Point Creamery. They’ll have dairy free options, too!
Our final Treat Truck Thursday is the 19th with something unusual: The Snowy Churro! What can be better than ice cream in the summer? Try a scoop of ice cream in a cup with a churro. You won’t want to miss this one; they’ll be in Bayaud Park.
All Food Truck Tuesdays and Treat Truck Thursdays are 5-8pm. And remember, the treats are on the LCMA for the first 150 servings!
